Honestly, I would hate to have to mop up that stadium...
THIS IS NUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, CrossFit has been blowing up for a while now, but location is anything but important. For Jason, Mikko or any of these elite CrossFitters.. the mind and the body is the determining factor. Whoever is stronger in both is who will come out the champion.. period.
Jason is going to bring it whether it's in a 10 ft. x 10ft. box with nobody around, or in front of thousands with cameras and lights blazing. This will be a milestone in CrossFit history and in Jason's career hands down. We're all excited for you Jason!!!!

It's all relative Stacey.. I'm sure the Socal CFers are stoked that it's just right by their backyard. In a way, the space makes logistics a bit easier to organize than the Aromas ranch. Just imagine those who travel from overseas to not just participate as an athlete, but only to spectate. It was bound to happen as Crossfit finds its place in the world of sports.

I get it, but it still sucks. I'd like to see it stay in the area it comes from.

As I was driving back from San Luis Obispo today I drove by the sign that said "Aromas" and thought, I'll be there in a couple months cheering on Jason. Now reading this and watching the video I'm now going to have to try and plan a trip down south to watch. I agree the Home Depot Center does look very nice and I'm sure it will accommodate the event very well, I'm just scared to see ticket prices via Ticketmaster... :(

Wow... I'm just reading some of the comments on the mainsite. There sure are lot of whiners out there.. If there is one thing I learned in judging at the Norcal sectionals-- it is, that, Crossfitters learn to adapt, deal with the unknown, and move on... such is life.
Btw, there's still a 9:30 class tomorrow, right?

This is going to be an awesome event. This sport and lifestyle is definately expanding. I think its an honor to participate infront of an audience that size. The amazing part of crossfit is watching the athletes get into the ZONE where its one rep or step after the other. Once in that ZONE I dont think the size of the place or location matters, thats what makes this sport FREAKIN' AMAZING!!

Gonna be kick ass either way! BUT, having it here takes a little bit of the "homegrown" aspect out of it, eh? Like the dirt hill runs, sand bags up the trail, etc? I am sure it adds another element of difficulty and new exercises.
Was planning on Aromas as well, but not going to make LA. Hopefully they will stream the comp. I am assuming they will, if so, we should get together at the gym, and project it onto a wall?
What d'ya say?

I like Mike;s idea . . . they better stream it because making it to LA is going to be a little harder . . . we'll see what happens

Jacob, if they can stream an Ironman for 17 hours they sure as hell can drop a few bucks to stream the games for a few hours each day!

The growth of CrossFit is good. I will definitely make the drive to L.A. well worth it. I agree with Nick that once in the "Zone" the venue doesn't matter.
I'm sure they will stream it live, good idea Mike.

As a norcal spectator I'm disappointed that the games won't be in our backyard this year, and I'm kicking myself in the butt even harder for not making the short drive to Aromas last year. But as a crossfitter I have to be happy that the sport is growing and if I were a competitor in the games I'd probably be super stoked about this venue. They may not have dirt hills near the stadium, but I'm sure the organizers will have a few tricks up their sleeves - Jason you might want to incorporate some stadium stair runs into your training schedule.

Yeah, I'm a little bummed it's not in Aromas anymore because I haven't been able attend in years past and a trip to SoCal is gonna put a bigger dent in the old pocketbook. BUT, on the other hand, it's so exciting to see how much the sport has grown in such a short amount of time. It's going to be amazing and I hope I can see it in person. The Ticketmaster thing is kind of a put-off but I guess it's needed, especially for the people who have to travel from different countries. According to the site, they will be streaming the games live. Jason's going to win, anyway.

My understanding was that the games left aromas due to legal issues rather than size, money, etc. and that hopefully the games will be returning to its "roots," so to speak in aromas again in 2011, but that's just what ive heard..........
