Random Fact about the Olympics and the Marathon:

In 490 BCE, Pheidippides, a Greek soldier, ran from Marathon to Athens (about 25 miles) to inform the Athenians the outcome of the battle with invading Persians. The distance was filled with hills and other obstacles; thus Pheidippides arrived in Athens exhausted and with bleeding feet. After telling the townspeople of the Greeks' success in the battle, Pheidippides fell to the ground dead. In 1896, at the first modern Olympic Games, held a race of approximately the same length in commemoration of Pheidippides.

Unfortunately there will be no Workout of The Week this week....our results have been limited lately and the competition isn't going in the right direction I feel like. I will hopefully come up with something new soon if you have any suggestions please let me know.

Here is a picture of Daniel from back in the day...I don't know about you but it looks kind of fake to me???? The guy looks a little super imposed....Daniel tells me its legit, I'll take his word for it. Either way thats a pretty badass picture!

Quick Note for Tomorrow:

I will be leaving the gym at 10:40 to go to our potential new location for a sound check if anyone would like to go please meet me there no later than 10:40, thank you.

PR'S PR'S PR'S!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love watching people hit a "personal record." Awesome work today guys.

Workout for Tomorrow:

Practice what you suck at work for at least 15 minutes.

Hold the plank position for max time

2 rounds for time of:

25 Box jump, 24 inch box
25 Kettlebell swings, 1 pood
Walking Lunge, 50 steps
25 Knees to elbows

25 Hip Extensions
25 Push press, 45 pounds

However every 2 minutes you must complete 5 burpees until you have accomplished the 2 rounds.

What does practice what you suck at mean? It means exactly that...get out of your comfort zone and learn something new or practice something that you don't normally practice. My goal for tomorrow is to get someone a better kipping pull up or muscle up. Please review the muscle up and the kipping pull up below.

Jason, I really find your teaching videos helpful. I like the way you break down movements and give several realistic progressions that I can implement immediately. Thanks!

Daniel, you have some loving friends.

I don't know a single person who would let me kick the brains outta their head.. dude does not look like he's about to duck.. AT ALL! LOL

Jason, thanks for re-posting the kipping video.

In 480 BC another bad ass Greek did a pretty amazing thing. He pretty much held off the entire Persian army at Thermopylae. His name was Leonidas of Sparta and HE DID WORK SON!

I'm gonna miss the workout of the week. I always looked forward to that

http://toughmudder.com/ Here is the link a few of us were talking about after class. I am definitely entering and a few of us were looking to get a team together. The team can have up to 20 people and we will be raising money for the Wounded Warrior Project. If you are interested email me at dana.l.clare@gmail.com. Thanks!

3:30 class, thanks for making me feel welcome and kicking my ass with a great workout! It's exacly what I needed before sitting in a conf room the rest of the week.

Sus, I thought the baddass Greek was named Sal Hernandez? you might want to double check Wikipedia.

I'm in for the toughmudder!

I can tell you first hand I have seen better pictures of Danny (more amazing) then the one posted. He has another one in a gym that looks bad ass. Ask him to give you some of his splits or maybe I will.

I forgot to mention, this is legit and not super imposed.
